4th European Single Cell Proteomics (ESCP) Conference
A couple of weeks ago, my colleague Jamil from Fossiliontech attended the Single Cell Proteomics meeting (ESCP, Vienna 2023) and I want to share his notes with you.
I hope this summary will be useful for you :)
Single Cell Analysis: Why?
This technique is essential for understanding cell variability and how it can be applied in diagnostics, personalized therapies, and medical advances.

Detecting intact viruses in breath
What if we could detect COVID-19 and other viruses in real-time, in a noninvasive way? No more needles, no more poking in noses, no more waiting!
This is what the offline solution for Super SESI looks like
We have developed this first pilot unit within the PERFECT LIFE project (funded by the European Union). It comprises a gas conditioning unit, a desorber, the Super SESI, the MS, and of course, the cartridges!
This is what we are doing to expand the applications of SUPER SESI
We are developing several peripheral systems to expand how you can use Super SESI to your advantage.
Our SUPER SESI is ready to be delivered to the NIHR Leicester Biomedical Research Centre - Respiratory to join the fight against COVID-19!
Dr. Mike Wilde, of the East Midlands Breathomics Pathology Node (EMBER) Council, has been awarded this SUPER SESI of the "Together we fight COVID" program for his brilliant project proposal "Breath analysis by SESI-HRMS within a multi-omic platform for patient stratification in COVID-19 pneumonia".
Seminar at University of Castilla la Mancha (UCLM) - Albacete School of Pharmacy
Seminario en la Facultad de Farmacia de Albacete (UCLM): Análisis del volatiloma en tiempo real - Avances técnicos e instrumentales
Multy center study to diagnose neck cancer with Super SESI
We just installed a second Super SESI at the National Cancer Research Institute of Italy to initiate the first multicenter study based on this technology to diagnose neck cancer with breath analysis.
Due to its proximity to the upper airways, breath analysis is an ideal non-invasive diagnostic approach to detect this disease at an early stage. We are committed to serving scientists and proud to contribute to the improvement of the health of so many people.
IABR - Breath Summit 2019 started
First day at the Breath Summit (Loughborough, UK)! Honored for sharing this time with the Breath Research community. Do not miss Guillermo Vidal's talk on Monday at 16:35h. He will talk about Real-time breath analysis with SESI-HRMS and standardization.
ETH researchers double their investment in Super SESI
We have recently installed a new Super SESI and a new Exhalion, that will work in tandem with a Thermo QExactive Plus. This investment validates the technology.
With this acquisition, ETH Zurich (Switzerland) consolidates its position as a top research institution, leading the field of breath research.
University Hospital of Zurich will use Super SESI QExactive Plus installed by Fossil Ion Technology and Thermo Fisher Scientific
University Hospital of Zurich use Super SESI QExactive Plus installed by Fossil Ion Technology and Thermo Fisher Scientific.
ETH Zurich will be using SUPER SESI for metabolomic studies
The ETH Zurich (Switzerland) has recently completed the acquisition and installation process of a new SUPER SESI unit for a Thermo Fisher Scientific Orbitrap mass spectrometer, that will help in different fields of the research conducted at this institution related to metabolomic studies.
CERN's most advanced tools will help Fossiliontech scientists to easily process breath analysis data
The European Organization for Nuclear Research (CERN) has officially reached an agreement with Fossiliontech through a project supported by Ineustar-Pioneers and Promalaga to develop a data processing system tool incorporating CERN algorithms, in order to create a post-processing server that shares the conclusions obtained by all scientists working on breath analysis with SUPER SESI.
Researcher Prof. Pablo ML. Sinues gets an Eccellenza Grant of the Swiss National Science Foundation
Sinues is a pioneer of the SESI technology and established SESI-MS as a technique for breath research. The goal in the granted project is to optimize the therapeutic regimen of pediatric patients to maximize efficacy and minimize side effects. For this the group will develop a mass spectrometry-based breath test.
